3d-io has just released a free upgrade to their one-click automatic UV unwrapping and packing solution for Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya: Unwrella 3.

This major update comes parallel to the ever more growing popularity and usage of UV tile workflow in Mari, Zbrush, Mudbox and Modo. To meet the expectaions of texturing artists, 3d-io has leveled up Unwrella with a set of functions for optimal and fast UV tile creation workflow.

  • New UV tile creation process
  • Unwrella 3 offers 3D artists instant unwrapping and optimal UV packing in self-customizable UV tile sets. Artists now can easily control the number of UV tiles, automatically generate material IDs for each UV tile or unwrap the UV tiles according to material ID settings.

  • Compatibility with Autodesk 3ds Max 2015 and Autodesk Maya 2015

  • New simplified web manageable licensing
  • Unwrella 3 comes out with the new online managed licensing system, allowing users to transfer licenses with one click to any other workstation. No more waiting time caused due to time-zones or email requests: you can activate or deactivate the license and move it as you wish.

Availability and system requirements
Unwrella 3 is available now for Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya 2010 or above. The update is free for all existing Unwrella 2 customers, a new license costs € 149,-.
