Spotmask 1.0 Release – 3ds Max mental ray advanced render pass output

The new post-processing solution for 3ds Max mental ray users and video compositors is finally released. 3d-io, the developer of high-end 3d plugins like Unwrella, Flatiron and BonesPro has unveiled Spotmask, the next production tool to enhance 3d and video post-processing workflows.

Spotmask is a set of precision render elements for Autodesk 3ds max mental ray. It offers a new world position pass output as well as repaired and optimized motion velocity/motion blur, UVW pass and normal pass.

This means that colors, motion blur effects, textures and filter effects can be adjusted directly on the beauty shots with ease, using Spotmask passes.

There is no need to render the scene again, the artist can now make adjustments in his favorite post-processing tool (i.e. Fusion or Nuke).
Additionally, Spotmask features a highly sophisticated Motion Blur for video compositing applications, replacing the current malfunctioning mental ray velocity pass.

Spotmask features:
- Render element plugin for World-Position, Normal Pass and UV Pass output
- Special advanced MentalRay output for Vector Pass (Motion Blur)
- Easy, customizable and reliable render output enabling efficient compositing workflows
- Very fast render speed

The latest version of Spotmask is now ready for download and offers full support for Autodesk 3ds Max 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 (each in 32 bit and 64 bit versions).

The Spotmask plug-in and a lot of associated training materials are now available at
Veteran 3d video artists can at last engage the correct render elements in order to improve animation workflows even more. If Spotmask and render element technology are new to you, check out the tutorials and download the free trial to see how Spotmask works.
