Maya can't communicate with the licensing system. The cause for this is usually a firewall that's blocking local communication between programs or the licensing service is not running at all.
To check if the service is running go to Start -> Run -> type 'services.msc' and confirm. In the window that opens you should see a row for '3d-io license server'. Make sure that the status column for this row says that it's started.
If the service is running and you still get the error it means a firewall is blocking it.
OK, another message now. This means that everything is working correctly but there is no valid license to use. The default trial license probably got invalidated somehow. Generate a request key with the license manager and use the form at http://www.3d-plugin.com/activation/. We'll replace it with a working trial.
