[RESOLVED] Mental Ray Ambient occlusion problem

[RESOLVED] Mental Ray Ambient occlusion problem

Postby tiagomelo » Fri Jul 16, 2010 4:46 pm

Hi,

I'm using Flatiron to create lightmaps for a unity game. My problem is when I setup the material override to a Mental Ray ambient occlusion material, Flatiron renders the occlusion image, but saves a black image, whatever bake element I select (Complete Map, diffuse map, lighting map).

I'm using 3dsmax and flatiron trial. Please look at attached file, if it helps.

Best

Tiago Melo

Hallo Tiago,

it works ok. You have used "Override Material" that makes damage. Simply select all obejcts in the scene, give them a simple gray material, and select AmbientOcclusion in FlatIron. It does it automaticaly, you don't need AO material for it, and it is faster. In FlatIron Interface you have below the settings for tuning AO in Mr, additionaly.
thanks, and if you have more questions, feel free to contact us anytime
best regards
