Postby Norad » 07 Jan 2009 22:38

When you errase it from your hard drive, while it has been instaled in 3ds Max root directory it deletes Max's system files!! My Max just got blown up! THANKS ALOT UV PACKER!

Uh, you have wrongly installed packer in Max root directory instead of its own one (ie. program files/3d-io/packer). On uninstallation, packer deletes its program files directory, and thus has deleted your MAX root folder.

Most of the Microsoft Windows programs are behaving in the same manner.

Well i know, it was another bug during instalation - when i begun to write 'd:\...' it poped up with older choices including 'd:\3ds Max 2008\' , and when i pressed it, instalation triggered automaticly, without a chance to add '\uv pacer\'. Its first time when uninstaling through normal procedures (add / errase programs) deleted most of files in directory - and let me repeat: MOST, it had to be bugged if it hasn't deleted all the files.

Inspired by your case we sat down the whole day and modified the installer to prevent users from destroying their data. UV-Packer Beta 2 will be released shortly.

Update: UV-Packer 1.0 Beta 2 is now released - it should handle this kind of situations with more grace (gives warning dialogs, deletes only files it has put in there and the folder only if it is empty).

Norad, do you mind if we tone down the topic of your post since this issue is now resolved?

Thanks for reporting and bearing with this annoying bug.

M'kay, errase it. I managed to repair it from 3ds max setup, only the Vray got wiped out permanently.
