[DEMO LIMITATION] Demo version - UV problem ?

[DEMO LIMITATION] Demo version - UV problem ?

Postby obvioos » 05 Dec 2016 14:20

Hi Everybody,

I am about to buy Flatiron and wanted to test the demo version before
It seems to me that there is some UV problems
In order to be sure, I did some simple tests with a teapot and a plane and I never be able to have a correct baking
Everything seems to works perfectly for the unwrap and the renders, but the baked result is always wrong (sometimes the texture tiles a lot, sometimes all my objects are black)
I'm quite sure it's due to a problem with the Flatiron UV's modifier

Here is a screenshot with my setting :

I tried different settings (single pass baking etc.) and still have the problem

Is this problem related to the demo version only? Did someone has the same problem ?
I want the be sure everything works before buying the full version ;)

Best regards

(I'm using Max 2016 SP4 with Vray 3.4)

Hi obvioos,

I have been having the same issue.

Let me know if you come up with a solution faster than I do.

I am using Max 2017, Vray 3.40.03 (demo) and Flatiron (demo). The object I am testing it with is a simple room wall with 2 cutouts for doors.

Thank you

Hi guys

this is the Limitation fo the demo Version: it does everything, but the last step of adding the UVW modifier to the object is skipped. This way you can test if it is compatible with your machine and Max Version, render maps with different renderer to see if it ok for you etc. If you would have the final UV on the object, then it would be a full functional Software.

thanks
best regards

Yes I learnt that shortly after posting this.

unfortunately, it makes it very difficult to convince senior management (non-technical people) in a company to invest in copies of the software, if I cannot show the advantage of using it.

Still....., I know its a pretty neat software :)

Thank you very much for your reply

It's fine for me, I'll go for the full version
Nevertheless, I suggest you to mention it more clearly on the demo version in order for people to understand it's not a bug.
I used Flatiron in the past and I know it works perfectly ... this is why I started this post on the forum.
Maybe some potential customer could think it's not working and don't even ask why.

Anyway ... thanks a lot for your reply :D
Best
